company history

Welcome to the home page of Ravenfield Designs Ltd.

Ravenfield Designs is a dedicated company which specialises in the design & manufacture of scientific instruments. We have a global customer base which includes major oil companies and world class universities. Our main products are viscometers for the oil industry . We supply a range of ancilliary equipment for our own viscometers and other industry standard rotational viscometers.

We have recently branched into the biomedical field with our Model EM Shear Generator . This instrument has been developed to apply known shear to a sample while allowing reagents to be added. Observation mechanisms for forward scattering, epifluorescence etc. can be provided

Our latest development for the biomedical market is the Ravenfield Model FB range of Dental Alginate Test Equipment which has been designed to meet the test requirements of ISO 1563

Ravenfield HTHS viscometers are the favoured testing equipment of European lubricant manufacturers. Ravenfield instruments are specified in the ACEA

Viscometers Ravenfield have moved into the biomedical field. Our first instrument is the Model EM Shear Generator.

The behaviour of molten metal under shear has also come to our attention as we were commissioned to design and develop a bench rig for investigating molten aluminium alloys. Our Model EO Metallurgical Viscometer is now available. For measurements up to 1750 degrees C we offer our Model FG Ultra Temperature Viscometer

We design or design and build custom projects in laboratory and industrial instrumentation or embedded computer system design and we specialise in very highly integrated systems.

We also run courses and workshops
on Viscosity Measurement using both our own viscometers and other designs.

Have you heard about our laboratory services
? We can measure the viscosity of most materials you may wish to send us.

On the demise of Ferranti we took over production and maintenance of the Ferranti Shirley Cone and Plate Viscometer and the Ferranti Portable Viscometer
.
